How to Get Started:
When to ask for help
Everyone experiences stress sometimes. Many people aren’t sure of the difference between normal sadness or nervousness, and a mental health concern. Below are some usual signs of common behavioral health conditions. If these describe you or a loved one, think about making an appointment with a counselor.
- Acting like everything is okay
- Having trouble setting boundaries or saying “No” when you need to
- Getting frustrated or angry easily
- Feeling overly sensitive to criticism and taking things too personally
- Wanting to change but not knowing how
- Feeling bothered by past events, like abuse, deaths, divorces, or other big life changes
- Using drugs or alcohol to feel better
- Losing money, jobs, relationships, or self-respect due to drugs or alcohol
- Having trouble sleeping, eating, or doing other normal activities
- Hearing loved ones tell you counseling might be helpful
