Internships and Rotations

Summer and Semester internships

In the past, CCHC has consistently hosted undergraduate and graduate students for 8-12 week internships.  Interns assist with the day-to-day operation of a community health center, and can work on special projects as they arise. Interns can shadow clinicians during their internship, but this is not how many spend the majority of their time at CCHC. Further, we can offer school credit or service hours for summer or semester internships.

Possible focus areas:

COVID-19 Update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we currently have minimal availability to offer positions this summer. Please check back later to see if positions have become available, and visit our volunteer page to learn about more ways to get involved with us.

Clinical rotations

CCHC providers frequently mentor medical students, PA students, and NP students for clinical rotations. If interested, please contact our HR Assistant at [email protected]. In your email, include the time period that you hope to spend with the clinic and any special interests or areas of expertise. Please also attach a resume or CV.

Established Fellowships

The Levine Scholars Program at UNC Charlotte takes the brightest, most capable students and gives them the tools, resources and environment they need to explore the world around them, engage deeply in their communities and excel across discipline. The four-year scholarship includes full tuition, room, board, a grant to implement a service project of the Scholar’s own design, and four summers of experiences that will develop leadership skills, social awareness and an international perspective. Levine Scholars have the opportunity to spend a summer at CCHC, applying their skills to an independent project and gaining exposure to the variety of career options within community health and nonprofit management.

The Davidson Impact Fellowship connects recent Davidson graduates with organizations that address critical social needs in health, education, and the environment. One Impact Fellow spends the year working at CCHC, developing their understanding of the challenges and efforts that are a part of bringing social change to our communities. Fellows bring this hands-on experience with them as they continue on to medical school and/or public health graduate programs.
