What you need to know about COVID-19
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a brand-new coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China. This virus is now spreading in many countries, including the United States.
Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The virus does cause severe symptoms in some people, especially older adults, people with weaker immune systems, and people who have other chronic diseases like diabetes or heart problems.
Slowing down the spread of COVID-19 will save lives by making sure that sick people can access the care they need. It’s very important that you act now to keep yourself healthy and slow the spread of the disease.

If you need a COVID-19 Test, please give us a call at (704) 316-6561 to schedule in advance. You will be instructed to stay in your car when you arrive on site, and one of our staff will come out to help administer and collect the test.

What should I do if I feel Sick?
If you may have been exposed and feel sick:
- Stay home and avoid contact with others. Do not go to work, school or daycare.
- Do NOT come to the clinic without calling ahead if you have a fever, cough, or other symptoms of a cold.
- Use a thermometer to measure your temperature before calling a hotline or doctor's office.
- If you are a CCHC patient, please dial the main number at (704) 316-6561 and select the option to speak to a nurse.
- If you are not a CCHC patient, please call one of the testing resources at the top of this page.
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Clean surfaces that are touched often, like doorknobs and cell phones.
How should I stay healthy?
The best way to keep yourself and your family safe is to prevent the disease from spreading. Don’t wait until someone in your family gets sick to think about what you plan to do.
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid crowded places and stay home when possible, especially if you are older than 60 or have a chronic medical condition.
- Wear something over your nose and mouth (a cloth mask, bandana, or t-shirt) when you have to leave home
- Avoid close contact with other people, especially if they're coughing or don't feel well.
- Try not to touch your face, including your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Clean surfaces that are touched often, like doorknobs and cell phones.
- If you have questions about COVID-19, call one of the hotlines above.
- Talk with your family and friends about what you will do if someone gets sick.
